Security is a shared responsibility. At DEF CON 34's Biohacking Village, Roche worked openly with the research community on healthcare cybersecurity.
DEF CON is one of the world's largest gatherings of the security research community. The Biohacking Village brings together medical device manufacturers, security researchers, clinicians and regulators to strengthen the security of connected healthcare technology. At DEF CON 34, Roche worked directly with security researchers in a controlled, collaborative setting. This environment fostered open discussions on the security of connected healthcare technology and highlighted why independent research matters. These conversations will inform our ongoing work in cybersecurity and Digital Trust in healthcare.
The Biohacking Village brings together healthcare cybersecurity, medical device safety and patient advocacy.
Hands-on labs gave participants space to explore medical device security and cybersecurity in a controlled setting.

Roche participated in the Biohacking Village at DEF CON 34 from August 7 to 9, 2026. Over three days, the Roche team engaged with security researchers, healthcare professionals, industry peers, and public-sector representatives to discuss the security of connected healthcare technology. Discussions also focused on the vital role of independent security research and how manufacturers can engage with the community responsibly.
