HPM®: RTLS and documentation / optimization of cleaning and technical processes in hospitals

This product is available on cobas® pulse system.

HPM® is an intelligent digital solution for the safe and efficient collaboration between nursing, hygiene, medical technology, cleaning and controlling. HPM® documents the cleaning process of medical devices in real time and displays their exact location, their hygiene- and technical status and their actual usage.

Utilise the benefits of real-time asset tracking for the management of medical devices and optimise your bed management processes.

In the fight against HAIs, many hospitals are already using the digital solution HPM® by CLINARIS. HPM® displays the location and hygiene and technical status of beds and other medical devices- in real time.

To identify devices, HPM® uses NFC Tags and for tracking purposes, HPM® uses energy-saving Bluetooth transmitters and receivers. The devices and their respective status are then displayed on stationary computers or on mobile devices such as cobas® pulse.

HPM® automatically produces detailed documentation of the individual cleaning steps for each device, which can help to improve the legal position of a hospital in case of a claim (reversing the burden of proof).

HPM® also offers hospitals other benefits: real-time tracking reduces the time spent searching for urgently needed medical devices, while the easy-to-use defect reporting module means that devices in need of repair can be sent to the Medical Technology Department as quickly as possible. Thanks to HPM®, these devices can be put back into use very quickly, safely and efficiently. Consequently expensive “surplus” of beds and other medical devices can be reduced. The due dates of technical inspection of beds, as well as the maintenance and calibration of medical instruments, for example, can also be seamlessly monitored using HPM®. HPM® can be integrated into the IT landscape of hospitals via bi-directional interfaces, e.g. to logistics or CAFM solutions.

HPM®

HPM® documents the cleaning process of medical devices in real time and displays their exact location, their hygiene- and technical status and their actual usage.

Benefits

HPM® hygiene module

Optimization and documentation of cleaning processes with real-time data

Our intelligent software HPM® simplifies your daily hospital routines with real-time data and makes your hygiene processes safer and more transparent.

Benefits:

  • Real-time information about contamination of medical devices e.g. with HAIs

  • Tracking-down of contaminated medical devices

  • Provide cleaning instructions according to contamination

  • Interrupt chains of infection

  • Can help to improve legal position of hospital in case of a claim

  • Permanent training of staff

With HPM®, contaminated medical devices are clearly and reliably marked as such.

Once a contamination is assigned to a medical device, cleaning / disinfecting instructions and requirements for personal protection are adapted accordingly which is essential to protect staff, patients and visitors. The cleaning itself is optimized by precise step-by-step instructions based on the guidelines and specifications by device manufacturers and governing bodies such as e.g. RKI in Germany.

HPM® bed management module

HPM® shows the precise location and availability of hospital beds or in real-time as well as their hygiene- and technical status in compliance with the requirements of the Medical Device Regulation. Defects on the beds can be reported digitally via pictograms. Beds which need repair, testing or servicing can be singled out following cleaning and handed over to the technical department by either “guiding” the technician to the location of the bed or by initiating a transportation order (“ticket”) via interphases to logistics or digital solutions. With HPM® the hospital has at any given point in time a real-time overview on available and occupied beds as well as of beds which need cleaning, servicing, repair or testing.

Benefits:

  • Real-time overview on number and location of available beds as basis for “occupancy management”

  • Precise location and hygiene- and technical status of beds

  • Reduction of time wasted on searching for available beds and bed-accessories

  • Increase of availability / utilization of beds / possibility to reduce excess inventory

  • Real-time status and notification of defects

  • Simple and efficient tracking of due dates for maintenance, inspection / testing

  • Fact-based purchasing due to real-time information on actual usage of beds and mattresses

HPM® room module

The icons for optimizing the room cleaning process follow the color pattern used for the cleaning of the hospital beds:

green = available/clean; blue = occupied/in use; yellow = contaminated; broom in a blue box = need for regular cleaning process; broom in a yellow box = need for special cleaning process

If an infection/contamination is assigned to a bed, the marker contaminated can be automatically assigned to all other devices in the room.

HPM® can incorporate time blockers symbolized by a suitcase in case e.g. the cleaning process is postponed until after the discharge of a patient.

Broom in a yellow circle = request for immediate cleaning.

Benefits:

  • Real-time capacity overview (cleaned / available rooms/ beds)

  • Real-time hygiene status: improved safety for staff

  • Real-time job list: improved staff utilization/ management

  • Digital work instructions: permanent training

  • Optimized capacity management: lower costs

HPM® asset tracking module

Based on Bluetooth Low Energy Technology (BLE), HPM® enables hospitals to track and trace medical devices and other valuable assets in real-time.

Benefits:

  • Display precise location and hygiene- and technical status of devices / assets

  • Reduction of time wasted on searching for available devices / assets

  • Increase of availability / utilization of devices and possibility to reduce excess inventory

  • Easy and precise reporting of defects

  • Simple and efficient tracking of due dates for maintenance, inspection / testing

  • Real-time overview on actual usage of devices facilitates fact-based purchasing
